What is the DHA Pharmacist Exam?

DHA Exam Introduction

The DHA Pharmacist Exam is a mandatory examination conducted by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) for overseas-trained pharmacists who want to practice in Dubai. The exam tests your knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical sciences and clinical pharmacy practice.

Who needs to take the exam?

All overseas-trained pharmacists must pass the DHA licensing exam before they can practice pharmacy in Dubai.

Exam format

The exam is computer-based and consists of multiple choice questions covering various pharmaceutical topics.

Areas covered

The exam covers topics such as pharmacology, clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutics, pharmacy practice, and UAE healthcare regulations.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm), or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

Professional Experience

A minimum of two years of work experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting after graduation.

Registration / License

Must be a registered pharmacist in the home country or the country of practice.

Good Standing Certificate

A valid Good Standing Certificate issued by the pharmacy council or licensing authority of the home country (generally not older than 6 months).

Additional Requirements

  • Valid passport copy and recent photographs.
  • Updated curriculum vitae (CV).
  • Transcripts and degree certificates attested as per DHA requirements.

Procedure for DHA Pharmacist Exam

Prepare Required Documents

Gather and prepare the necessary documents for your application and verification process. These typically include:

  • Educational certificates, transcripts, diplomas
  • Proof of work experience (minimum 2 years in retail or hospital pharmacy)
  • Colored passport size photographs
  • Valid passport copy
  • Pharmacist registration/license from your home country
  • Certificate of Good Standing from your pharmacy council (issued within the last 6 months)

Create a Sheryan Account & Complete Self-Assessment

Register on the Sheryan portal, DHA's official licensing platform. Use the Self-Assessment Tool to check if you meet DHA's Unified Healthcare Professionals Requirements (UHPR). This step is required and helps ensure you are eligible to proceed further.

Submit Your Primary Source Verification (DataFlow)

Apply through the DHA DataFlow (Primary Source Verification) to authenticate your educational and professional credentials. The DataFlow Group verifies these documents on your behalf by contacting the issuing institutions directly. Submit all required documents as per the checklist. Only after PSV clearance can you move forward.

Schedule and Take the DHA Prometric Exam

Once your DataFlow is approved, you can schedule your DHA Prometric Exam. Ensure your Passport is valid and has a minimum validity of 6 months. Valid Emirates ID and passport are required for the exam. Be prepared. The exam typically comprises MCQs and case-based questions across various medical and pharmaceutical topics.

Access Results & Obtain DHA License

After your exam:

  • You'll receive your results immediately after completing the computer-based exam.
  • If you pass, you become eligible to apply for professional registration. From there, your eligibility and fees schedule will finalize your Professional License under their healthcare policy.
